Working Mother & Investment Banking

Talk about bad timing. The latest issue of "Working Mother" magazine landed in my mailbox today, with its annual Top 100 Companies that are family friendly. Unfortunately many top companies were of the investment banking persuasion, including Lehman Bros. In fact, a profile of one of its successful female investment bankers, a mother of an infant boy who also has an investment-banker husband, waxed enthusiastic about that career field's benefits to working moms and how it would allow her son to see her positively in 2 roles, good mom and successful employee. Ouch. Poor woman is probably unemployed as I write this, and her hubby as well. Poor baby. No private school for you! And to top it off, the back cover was a full-page ad for AIG. Could it get any worse for "Working Mother"? I think not!
